One Litre of Tears is a true life story of Kitou Aya (1962-1988), a girl who had an incurable disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration Disease at a young age of 15. The girl in the drama is named Ikeuchi Aya. Her character was based on Kitou Aya's life, about how she struggled and fought her disease and how she wrote her deepest thoughts until the last day she could hold a pen.

really teared for most part of the drama.. after watching the whole series its gonna be more than a litre of tears. its really a touching show, especially for episode 8 where Aya bid farewell to the class and how they chased her with the '9th March' song they sang for her.. giving her the best last moment in the high school. yar, i've even went to purchase the diary of Kitou Aya. the diary only has japanese and chinese version. the chinese version is not in those simplified ones.. so really had a hard time reading thro it. really hope tt it will have an english version soon. also thanks kimmy for introducing this tear-jerking show.
